Are the exams available in French and English?
The exams are in the same language as the official test, so most of the time in French. For bilingual exams (when schools also test English), the questions are available in English and French.
What is the difference between standard practice exams and advanced practice exams?
If my child scores 85% on a practice exam, can they expect to get 85% on the actual admission exam?
Not necessarily. The practice exams replicate the format, difficulty, and content of the admission exams, but a few important differences can influence the final result:
- Some exams include a dictation (text read aloud by an examiner).
- The official exams are timed. The stress, time pressure, or an unfamiliar environment can impact performance.
The goal of PrepSecondaire is to identify strengths and areas for improvement, and to familiarize the student with the format.
How long does it take to prepare?
Regular practice over several weeks is ideal. The exams help quickly identify concepts that need improvement.
Are the solutions provided with the exams?
Do I need to create an account?
No, you can download the exams once they are ordered. However, an account is necessary to save your child's results and progress.
Can PrepSecondaire guarantee admission to a school?
My child passed the exam but was not admitted. Why?
Success on the exam is often one of the admission requirements, but it is generally not the only criterion. Schools may also consider:
- The academic record (report cards, teacher comments)
- The number of available spots for external candidates (some schools have their own internal elementary school)
- The child's profile (some schools look for a diversity of profiles)
- Individual interviews or interviews with parents
A good score on the exam significantly increases the chances, but it does not guarantee admission.
